The Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers Holds the National Governing Council (NGC) Meeting.

The Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers (UG) convened its National Governing Council (NGC) meeting under the theme:
“Laying the Foundation: Strategic Alignment for Effective Implementation of the UG Strategic Plan (2026–2029)”
The NGC comprises the Union leadership, including:
President Dr. Muyayuwa Kabisa; Vice President for Labour Relations, Comrade Bernard Mwape; Vice President for Professional Affairs, Comrade Nixon Tembo; General Secretary, Comrade John Nsululu; Deputy General Secretary – Administration, Comrade Chola Kakunta; Deputy General Secretary – Finance and Investment, Comrade Mulipa Nkata; Deputy General Secretary – Professional Affairs, Comrade Sitondo Kumatongo; National Coordinator – Membership and Mobilization, Comrade Sylian Kunda; and National Coordinator – Education and Training, Comrade Sambiana Samwaka.

Also are the four National Trustees Chairpersons: Comrade Manix Chipasha (Health Professions Chapter), Comrade Roy Mupango (General Government Professions Chapter), Comrade Barbara Chimbwe (National Resource Professional Chapter), and Comrade Ray Mwansa (Allied Professions Chapter).

The Women Coordinating Council was represented by its Chairperson, Comrade Linda Tembo, and National Secretary, Comrade Mutinta Phiri. The meeting was further supported by members of the Directorate team.

In his opening remarks, the Union President, Dr. Muyayuwa Kabisa, emphasized that the meeting serves as a platform for correction and introspection. He urged all members present to reflect on the kind of Union they aspire to build and to align their efforts toward that shared vision.

Dr. Kabisa further stressed the importance of each department to be focused on its core responsibilities and functions in order to effectively deliver on the Union’s mandate.

During the meeting, the General Secretary, Comrade John Nsululu, presented the Union’s Strategic Plan and outlined the mandates and strategic plans of the various departments, namely: the Women Coordinating Council, Administration, Membership and Mobilization, Professional Affairs, Education and Training, and Finance and Investment.
Comrade Nsululu highlighted that the first quarter of 2026 was largely dedicated to strategic planning and alignment with the UG Strategic Plan (2026–2029). He noted that these efforts have laid a strong foundation for the effective implementation of the Union’s programmes throughout the remainder of the year.
He further reaffirmed that the Secretariat remains committed to strengthening the Union and advancing the rights and welfare of its members, ensuring that each department responds effectively to the needs of the membership.
