UG National Coordinator Pays Courtesy Call on Public Service Micro Finance Company

The Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers (UG) National Coordinator for Education and Training, Comrade Samwaka Sambiana, paid a courtesy call on the Public Service Micro Finance Company (PSMF) to explore areas of collaboration.
The meeting aimed to establish a partnership between the Union and PSMF in Pre-retirement Preparation Program a UG initiative whose focus is to train members on how to effectively prepare for retirement through structured financial planning and skills development.
Accompanying the National Coordinator were the Director for Education and Training, Comrade Monze Xavier, and the Director in charge of Research and International Relations, Comrade Humphrey Fumpa.
Speaking during the meeting, UG’s Director in charge of Research and International Relations, Comrade Humfrey Fumpa, outlined the incentives offered by the Union and highlighted its continued growth in membership.
The Director of Operations at Public Service Micro Finance Company Limited, Mr. Sydney Siluonde, commended the Union for implementing programmes focused on empowering members and raising awareness on retirement preparedness. He further appreciated UG’s diverse membership, which spans across various professions within the public service.
He also pointed out one of the key products professional and trade tools which is designed to encourage public service workers to venture into entrepreneurship and build sustainable livelihoods beyond formal employment.
Comrade Monze Xavier added that the Union’s pre-retirement programme is aimed at equipping members with practical skills and enhanced financial literacy to ensure long-term economic stability.
PSMF and UG agreed to collaborate in the pre-retirement program. UG would provide the training to improve capacity of the member to enable them benefit from PSMF services with emphasis that access to funding will be to individual members based on their interest.
In closing, UG National Coordinator, Education and Training, Comrade Samwaka Sambiana, expressed appreciation to PSMF for its continued support and commitment to serving the public service employees, reaffirming the Union’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that promote member welfare and empowerment.
